"I honestly don't care where or how people have sex, or with whom, but prostitution is illegal. For someone whose got such a reputation for having a real attitude towards crime, you have to walk the walk. I'm sorry."

Most New York State residents agree with Julianne Moore's statement regarding Elliot Spitzer's sex scandal. United State's citizens are most certainly forgiving with respect to adulterous, extramarital affairs, however, as a whole, those same citizens are not forgiving of hypocrisy. It is quite disturbing that the litigator who harped on the evils of prostitution rings, wall street firms and mobsters was recreational participating in all of those activities at the expense of the public's trust in his leadership.
In his resignation, Spitzer had this to say, "I am deeply sorry that I did not live up to what was expected of me. To every New Yorker and to all those who believed in what I tried to stand for, I sincerely apologize. I look at my time as governor with a sense of what might have been." Courtesy of Canada.com
Although, Spitzer expresses sorrow and apologizes to his family and the public it is difficult not think he is sorry he was caught, sorry he is losing his job and not genuinely sorry for his actions. Politicians cheat all the time. Politicians are generally corrupt. So what made Spitzer different? It is clear that Spitzer is egotistical and suffers from sexual addiction, like all other great men that feel the need to have sex with prostitutes. Of course, I sympathize with his daughters, because they are at an age where this kind of incident is highly impressionable and embarrassing to their reputation now and in the future. Since seeing Mrs. Spitzer 'stand by her man' I do not feel any empathy toward her. If anything she should let him wallow the embarrassment on his own, as punishment even. Not that there's any need to punish, because there is no need to forgive.
I'm curious however about the speculation of his over and unwelcomed involvement in Wall Street and its connection to this scandal. I can't help but think that there are many other "John's" serving the government at this moment, all of whom have not been revealed. Stay tuned..
