If you haven't heard Mariah Carey's new single, listen to Touch My Body. I've been a huge Mariah fan since the early 90's and I was nine when I bought my first CD Mariah Carey's Daydream in 1995, but since then my devotion as a fan has dwindled. I would really like to know why Mariah lends her voice to these "pop gum" music lyrics (ie. Touch My Body), I think anyone can sing this song, Lindsay Lohan?, Paris Hilton?, Heidi Montag?, all horrible singers, all can sing this song. It is especially clear to me since the Glitter explosion also known as the Mariah meltdown, Mariah, sadly has not been the same. She insists on singing with no name "rappers" like Jermaine Dupri and Fat Joe. I do not argue that these so-called rappers have talent but why does Mariah insist on never singing her own song? As far as her voice is concerned she doesn't need the vocal support but for some reason the Mariah circa 1990's is too fragile to sing by herself. Furthermore, I have to advise all Mariah fans out there, if you like/love her, appreciate her music, appreciate her as an artist DO NOT GO TO ONE OF HER CONCERTS! I was throughly disappointed by her lackluster performance in New Jersey (I'm from New York, seats were sold out in Madison Square Garden), but I heard that she performed much better in New York than New Jersey and I feel that at $230 a pop for mediocre seats, she should at least do what she does best; sing! I sincerely hope that her new album due out April 15, 2008 will be better, but I can almost guarantee there will be more pop gum lyrics, more no name rappers and of course more disappointment. Here's hoping for the non-diva-ish, talented and gorgeous Mariah...
